A History of Nomadism
In this essay, I write about my globe-trotting, peripatetic childhood in seventeen brief sections—a structure reflecting the number of times I moved growing up. I explore the historical, philosophical, and experiential aspects of nomadism—from Bedouin traditions to Bruce Chatwin’s travelogues—and how they connect to my conflicting desires for home and mobility.
